THE BMW R 18 TRANSCONTINENTAL
THE ROAD’S BEST DRESSED ICON
DESIGN OF THE R 18 TRANSCONTINENTAL
Travelling broadens the mind – and forms things like our character
The R 18 Transcontinental looks like it could just eat up the miles. The large front-wheel cover and the striking front end with both additional headlights form the starting point for the elegant streamlining. The 24-litre tank, wind deflectors, footboards and the topcase with backrest for the passenger complete the clearly defined look.
Racing Blue metallic: The Racing blue metallic/Black storm metallic paintwork lends the bike a harmonious and attractive silhouette.
Option 719 Moonstone: Wherever you’re headed with your R 18 Transcontinental, the Mineral white metallic paintwork creates an impressive appearance.
R 18 Transcontinental First Edition: The Black storm metallic paintwork with white double lines, wheels with silver-grey, contrasting machining and numerous chrome-plated details, such as the cylinder head covers or engine housing cover, demonstrate that style and confidence are crucial, at any time and anywhere.
Black storm metallic: The colour scheme emphasises the elegant character of the R 18 Transcontinental. The Big Boxer, the comprehensive equipment: a power pack waiting for you that is prepared for anything.
Manhattan metallic matt: Sophisticated, agile and bursting with energy: this colour scheme screams pure riding pleasure while you eat up the miles. This is where the horizon puts on a beaming smile.
Stick to your path
The R 18 Transcontinental has been excellently prepared for anything you throw at it. It has been designed so that you can customise it just like you want it. The ample range of Original BMW Motorrad Accessories additionally supports this customising concept. The “Machined” and “2-Tone-Black” collections, designed in collaboration with Roland Sands Design, the classic “Option 719”, for instance with AERO Design package, particularly emphasise the bike’s luxurious appearance even more. The R 18 Transcontinental can additionally be customised and upgraded with sophisticated and convenient touring equipment, such as case liners.

Strength is born from calmness – and from each kilometre along the way
You already realise why the Big Boxer is called exactly that when you start it up. You can feel the vast displacement on every metre along the way. With its typical boxer power development you can rely on at minimum 150 Nm between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. The impressive torque and unspoilt responsiveness guarantee fully fledged pleasure in the long term – relaxed, but never boring. And the exposed, nickel-plated cardan shaft demonstrates just how much history we have packed into these 1802 cc. What now? Time to write your own history.
The first step is the easiest – the A2 variant of the R 18 Transcontinental
The R 18 Transcontinental is also available in an A2-compliant variant with 35 kW (48 PS). This variant can be throttled, meaning your machine supports you when you hold your A2 driver’s license. You can enjoy the intuitive handling of the R 18 Transcontinental from the very beginning.
